Goldenrod Plant Medicine

Plant Medicine of Goldenrod “Solidago Gigantea/Canadensis/Califonia”

I begin this writing as I prepare to strain and preserve out a Goldenrod flower essence creation I made on this autumn equinox full moon in pisces. I decided to create this essence under the full moon first, and then finish it in the sun of the next day. Interestingly enough Goldenrod has “sun medicine” which is very much opposite of the moon, but maybe not as much as the fullness of the moon is due to the reflecting of the light of the sun. Of course this natural law of polarity unravels throughout this writing as it always does.

I am a homeopath by nature, birth-right AND rigorous training. For those of you familiar with homeopathic medicines- it is incredibly layered, complex, convoluted and contradictory. All of the things my brain LOVES, as decoding hidden messages is an ongoing passion project for me.

This blog in and of itself is my passion project for homeopaths, and plant medicine enthusiasts as a place where homeopathic repertory, proving, herbal medicine uses, folk herbalism, and history, lore, and myth, and science come together to create a deeper understanding of how plants want to touch humanity.

In my Dynamis Homeopathy training with Jeremy Sherr- he referred to this as “cracking” a remedy. In his model of remedy cracking (and my extensive training within this art) we as humans take in the meaning of a substance through every pore in our body- to the cellular level in the intellectual sense. This “shamanism” as many call it- allows one to “crack” the genetic and/or “light” coding of a substance, This coding is the very geometry of somethings existence. We go to the source of the “meaning” of its existence. This is homeopathy- and this is plant medicine as I see it.

I don’t claim to perfectly find the source of all the plants I channel. I pull from intellectual and rational methods as well as divination, channeling, and spiritual/intuitive methods as I am in constant dialogue of the synthesis of my masculine and feminine strengths. Therefore these writings are to be taken in however the reader decides is fit.

Solidago= “wholeness”

This bright yellow, tall and erect fall flowering wild flower native to North America and Europe, is well- known for it’s brightness in reflecting the late summer/early autumn sun.

It is also well-known as a “allergen” in which it is commonly mistaken for ragweed- which actually contains the allergens in question.

This “wrongful accusation” holds an energy imprint that is ancient and powerful in considering its spiritual message to humanity.

If we take the opposite of the term “whole” we get “separate”

Fragmented. Pieces scattered apart from center, or source.

This is a common human condition.

The name “solidago” was used to tribute the plants healing property. “To make something whole again”

This “bringing into whole-ness” carries a sacred note that trickles down into this plants many healing properties.

Let’s get into some repertory and details.

In the homeopathic repertory we see this emphasis on a “downward” expression.

Many if not most body symptoms are lower extremities, feet, the “root” of the male torso-prostate and symptoms moving downward in the body, with an acute and prominent expression of “dragging”

Dragging as is from a weight pulling down, with additional and recurring modalities of “worse from pressure”

Pressure being a “closing/pressing inward towards center” gives you the directionally and essential movement of this medicine in homeopathic form.

Main affinities are Lungs/respiration with acute susceptibilities to bacterias such as tuberculosis, and pertussis, and an acute effect on waters in the body and kidneys.

In Chinese medicine the kidneys represent acute and intense fear states, and the lungs represent grief.

Acute fear- Grief. Sounds like war, genocide, trauma, and the evils of humanity.

This gives us a very different picture from this tall, erect, bright yellow flower that ascends towards the crisp and vibrant fall sunlight. However- part of cracking the cosmic codes of a substance is understanding the inherent polarity within it.

Everything contains polarity- and the tension that a polarity creates is Gods way of literally creating. The tension within a polarity is quite literally on a molecular, and quantum level- existence.

Seeing, feeling, intuiting, and studying polarity within something is a beautiful method of understanding the meaning of it.

Upward—Downward

Erecting upward—dragging downward

You are getting the picture?

This “shadow side” of goldenrod is that which drags humanity towards “hell” in the most dramatic sense- and ultimately the hell that comes with that which fragments a human.

The things that fragment a human is ultimately when a human is not able to be in their “fullness”

Being in ones “Fullness” or truth of being- is in our western culture a danger. It is a danger in our culture to speak out, rebel, stand out, stand in truth, and it is much safer to blend in and never “be” in fullness. It is an oxymoron in a sense, because how could it not be? Being in wholeness of truth leads to death, crucification, genocide, and FRAGMENTATION of self.

So wholeness=fragmentation

There is a “one in the same” type of situation here which is why polarity consciousness is so powerful as God is literally experiencing itself through this tension.

Polarities exist on the same line. This is the art and natural law.

In the case of Goldenrod we see God/heaven and we see Evil/hell.

What lays in the shadow here is the denial of self- which is the fragmentation of self.

I can’t help but bring in the symbolism of the cultural misunderstanding of this plant as a noxious allergen. The energy of being “wrongfully accused-“ is important when considering what things in human history cause a silencing or subduing of self. Being wrongfully accused because you may “look similar” to the thing in question is a DEFINITIVE way to then deny, disguise, or hide self. These are the reasons why fragmentation occur psychologically among the human species.

I also can’t help but draw a parallel to the witch hunts which was actually a straight up 1,000 year genocide on European women and peoples devised by the Church state. Women being wrongfully accused of whatever justified mass killing by the church. Women will hide, obscure, and deny self to survive. The fragmentation last generations.

I also should draw attention to the downward/erect polarity as it relates to the cruxifixction of Yeshua as he stood in his truth, and he IS the sun, and the LIGHT.

Here is a very interesting bit of history I found immediately on google when researching the history of Goldenrod.

““…..it is Kentucky's state flower, and has been since 1926 when a group of Kentucky Women's Clubs stormed the state capitol and demanded that it be adopted because it is native to all of Kentucky. Not being a government that was ready to admit defeat brought about by a storm of women, the men hemmed and hawed around and finally agreed to adopt it. Not too many years later, though, goldenrod was nearly toppled from its throne by another bunch of more dignified manly creatures who decided goldenrod was beneath their dignity, and they wanted a flowering tree to be the state's blossom. The battle was on, would it be the dogwood or the redbud for the men, or would it be the goldenrod for the women? Well, of course you know the rest of the story. What man stands a chance when it comes to the choice of a flower? And what man has a chance when a woman makes up her mind? It was not easy and for awhile it looked like a royal knock down drag out battle would occur when the redbud was approved in the House, but at the last minute, it lost in the Senate. Goldenrod was back to take it's place among the most stately of all the flowers. Even now, goldenrod appears on the Kentucky state flag.””

The imagery with this story is unique!

During the boston tea party Goldenrod was turned to as a tea substitute and was nicknamed “freedom tea.”

Native groups referred to it as “sun medicine”

Sun- Sol= self. In astrology our sun signs represent our innermost core of self expression.

Are we to rise upward and stand erect in our truest form of expression- or are we to succumb to the dragging downward pressure of censorship, genocide, cultural annihilation, and control.

Conforming is submission, is to be subdued, is to be defeated, is to be fragmented.

Can we remember who we are? Can we remember truth?

When have you subdued, or conformed under pressure to survive in a social context? Maybe Goldenrod is for you to remember your “wholeness” and come back to self.

This essence is well known for emotionally aiding teenagers in not “conforming” to peer pressure. Puberty is a vulnerable time where we as modern humans are “crafting” our social selves. Conforming is as much survival as it is a death of self, and this is the meaning of Goldenrod.

As I write this On Wednesday September 19th the day after our autumn equinox full moon in pisces, at 7:16 am I am witnessing the synchronicity of the full moon setting above the western horizon of my land as the sun rises on the eastern horizon. Here I am in the middle writing to you Goldenrod as I prepare to finish the flower essence I made under the light of the full moon- asking for you to reveal you shadow side to us.
